Exciting! New! Things!

First off, I just finished editing the footage that I have of Monica and Samantha, and I'm really happy with how it's turned out. Tomorrow, I'm filming Sariah, which will now be the last of my Idaho girls (surprise)!

I was originally supposed to film two more girls here in Idaho, but after I had to make some scheduling changes, I realized that it might be time to make some project changes too. As much as I've enjoyed working on this documentary so far, it's felt to me like it needs a little something more. The Idaho girls I was originally filming are amazing, and I really do love my state, but I just wasn't feeling as inspired as I wanted to be. My senior project was feeling more like an eighth grade project (no shade) than something that was supposed to be cumulative of my high school "career," so to speak. Then, at dinner a few nights ago my friend (shoutout to Lib K, my inspiration) suggested that I go to my hometown of New York City and film some girls there. I kind of took the idea and ran with it. Here we are, three days later, and in a week I am due to be NYC-bound! There I will be filming three girls, who I'm still getting logistics planned with. I really think this is a great addition to my project because it will allow me not only to debunk stereotypes about small-town living, but it will also allow me to study how the environment that one grows up in/lives in shapes and affects them, and it will also serve as a self-study in my dual identities as a native New Yorker and a current Idahoan. Plus, I'll get to eat my beloved NYC pizza again, visit some friends, and get out of my comfort zone in meeting new people!

It's 1am, so I really need to get off of iMovie now and sleep. I'll keep y'all updated with more soon! For now, here's a sneak peak at my footage of Sam:
